英文摘要 | Mitigatingrapidbiodiversitylossisoneofthemostvitalchallengesofthe21stcentury.Fordesigningandtestingadequatepolicyandmanagementstrategies,weneedimprovedbiodiversitymodelsthatallowderivingquantitativeestimatesofpotentialspeciesandcommunityresponsetoglobalenvironmentalchange.Speciesrangesareprimarilylimitedbythephysiological(abiotic)toleranceofthespecies,describedbytheirfundamentalniche.Additionally,demographicprocesses,dispersal,andbioticinteractionswithotherspeciesareshapingspeciesdistributions,resultingintherealisedniche.Understandingthecomplexinterplaybetweenthesedriversisvitalformakingrobustbiodiversitypredictionstonovelenvironments.Correlativespeciesdistributionmodelshavebeenwidelyusedtopredictbiodiversityresponsebutalsoremaincriticised,astheyarenotabletoproperlydisentangletheabioticandbioticdriversshapingspeciesniches.Recentdevelopmentshavethusfocussedon(i)integratingdemographyanddispersalintospeciesdistributionmodels,andon(ii)integratingbioticinteractions.Yet,manyaspectsofthesemodelsremainunder-explored,forexample,therequiredprocessdetailtobeincorporatedinthemodelsaswellasthescaledependenceandthespatialandtemporalvariationoftherepresentedprocessesamongothers.Also,wearestillmissingaframeworkthatfullyintegratesalltheseprocessesinagenericway,suchthatitisapplicableandadaptabletoalargenumberofspecies.Here,Iproposesettinguparesearchgroupthatdevelopsanintegratedmodellingframeworkabletodisentanglethecomplexrolesofdemography,dispersalandbioticinteractionsinshapingspeciesniches,andassesstheireffectsonpopulationandcommunityresponsetoglobalenvironmentalchange.Theframeworkanditssinglecomponentswillbevalidatedusingamixofsimulatedandempiricaldata,anditwillbeoperationalizedandtestedforaviancommunities,forwhichmultipledatasourceswillbesynthesizedinanovelwayusingBayesianinference.Inparticular,theprojectwillfocusonfivekeyresearchobjectivesaimedat(1)improvingourunderstandinghowlifehistoryandenvironmentshapedispersal,(2)improvingourunderstandinghowlifehistoryanddemographyshapespeciesniches,(3)improvingourunderstandinghowbioticinteractionsshapespeciesniches,(4)developingandoperationalizingmulti-speciesdynamicdistributionmodels,and(5)developingnewbiodiversityscenariosforEuropeanbirds.Overall,theproposedprojectwillimprovethescientificbasisformodel-basedbiodiversityassessmentsandincreasereliabilityofbiodiversitypredictionsforbroadspatialscalesbyprovidingboththeoreticalandconceptualadvancementsandbydefiningpracticalrequirementsandguidelinesforthedevelopmentandapplicationofbiodiversitymodels. |
