英文摘要 | Environmentalpolicyandmanagementtoregulatemultiplehumanactivitiesrequiredetailedunderstandingofhowactivitiesactindividuallyandincombinationtoaffectecosystemsandtherangeofservicestheyprovide.Progresshasbeenmadeincharacterisingeffectsofmanyanthropogenicpressuresonbiodiversity,consequencesforecosystemsandlinkstoservices.Furtherworkandintegrationisrequiredandresearchmustbeextendedtocaptureeffectsinmultipledimensionsofbiodiversityanddeterminehowchangesinoneecosystemaffectothers.Land2Seaaimsto(a)developanintegrativeframeworkofcoupledmodelsforpredictingtheimmediateandlongtermconsequencesofland-useandclimatechangeforthedeliveryofecosystemservicesandtheunderlyingbiodiversityandecosystemprocessesinfreshwaterandmarineecosystemsand(b)co-designamechanismfortheapplicationoftheframeworktoenvironmentalpolicyandpractise.TheprojectbringstogetheramultidisciplinaryteamfromIreland,Germany,Sweden,CanadaandtheUSA.Itwillfocusoncombinedimpactsonfreshwaterandmarinesystemsofselectedhumaninputstoterrestrialsystems(nutrients,biocides)andfutureclimate-inducedchangestohydromorphology.Empiricalresearchwillcharacterisecombinedeffectsofthesestressorsonmultipledimensionsofbiodiversityandonecosystemprocesses,servicesandbenefits.Findingswillfillgapsinexistingknowledge,whichwillbereviewedandcomplementedbyexpertopinionasabasisforaframeworkofcoupledmodels(physical,biologicalandsocio-economic)topredictimpactsonaquaticecosystemsandecosystemservices.Theframeworkanditsapplicationtopolicyandmanagementwillbedevelopedandtrialedthroughfourcasestudyareaswithdifferingenvironmentalandsocietalcontextsbutwithstrongbackgroundsofresearchandsocietaldependenceonfreshwaterandmarineecosystems.Engagementwithstakeholdersthroughouttheprojectwillensuretherelevanceandimpactofitsoutputs. |
