From potential to utilization: Exploring the optimal layout with the technical path of wind resource development in Tibet

英文摘要Wind resource assessment is the crucial component of wind power development. To make more efficient use of wind energy, factors such as environmental conditions and geographical location related to the generation of wind power must be taken into account. In the past, Tibet's vast expanse and limited number of meteorological stations resulted in relatively inaccurate data. Furthermore, high altitude and thin air have a significant impact on the measurement of local wind power, and Tibetan wind energy resources have received limited and incomplete research. We designed a practical wind energy assessment method for the plateau in response to the remote location and complex natural environment, lack of research facilities and incomplete data. Using a mix of GIS modeling, wind turbine performance, and the Tibetan wind speed dataset, we analyze the technological potential of wind energy. We also use the COE model to estimate the economic potential of wind power in the area, and the modified entropy technique to examine the feasibility and economics of employing wind energy. This study found that the technical potential of land-based wind energy in Tibet was 153.7KMW and 215.8KMW under two arrays, respectively. Wind energy hotspots in Tibet are mainly concentrated in Ngari, Nagqu, and Shigatse regions, while Shannan City and Chamdo City also have exploitable hotspots. It can serve as a resource for select wind power generation sites in the Tibetan region's outflow area and assist in coordinating multienergy development with the region's substantial hydro resources. The results of the study also show that the wind power have resource-economic-technological advantages in the north side of the Gangdise Mountains, in the Gyangzi-Dzhegu and Nyingchi-Tanggula mountain range - the Nujiang River region regions, and that there is a resource-technology-economy dissonance in some of the regions between the Kunlun Mountain Range and the Kunlun Mountain Range, which needs to be appropriately subsidized by the Government. This research provides a solid scientific basis for the future development of wind energy in Tibet by thoroughly evaluating the possibility of its development.
