英文摘要 | This study aimed to find out how different land-use patterns affected soil organic carbon (SOC) storage and stabilization in soils by anthropogenic influences. Accordingly, the current study looked at depth-wise (0-10 and 10-20 cm) profiles of SOC as well as soil pH, bulk density (BD), soil texture and spectral indices (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index as NDVI and Bare Soil Index as BSI) in two land-use patterns namely Panidehing wetland (PDW) and Dibrushoikhowa Biosphere (DSB) of Assam at twenty different geographical landscape. Generally, soil pH, clay fraction, SOC, SOCstock and SOCpc showed a gradually decreased trend with increasing soil depth with a higher value in PDW soils than in DSB soils (except for SOC and SOCstock), while BD and sand fraction showed a reverse trend (DSB > PDW). In contrast, no such significant trend was observed for the silt fraction. Additionally, the SOC and SOCstock soil were significantly correlated with clay fractions for PDW and DSB soils, indicating that clay fractions were a driving factor for long-term carbon storage. The multivariate redundancy analysis (RDA) revealed that clay fraction was the prime driver for regulating soil carbon distribution and storage in PDW soils, while it was sand for DSB soils. Findings indicated that different land utilization resulted in diverse carbon storage and dynamics. DSB was more stable for SOC, indicating that DSB land-use patterns might be a more viable carbon sequestration strategy than PDW in the aftermath of climate change mitigation. |
