英文摘要 | Successfully addressing environmental challenges like climate change necessitates the active and effective involvement of every individual and group. The implementation and construction of policies related to mitigating the negative consequences of climate change entails understanding the perceptions of individuals regarding it. This study's primary purpose is to provide an in-depth empirical analysis of three different kinds of climate views and the underlying variables that influence them. Additionally, gender differences in climate views as a result of various determinants are explored. The research was conducted using the latest Round 10 of the European Social Survey from 2020-2022 and is focused on Europe. To the best of our knowledge, the latest wave of the European Social Survey has not been used to conduct such analysis. The study finds socio-demographic variables like age, education, and income to have significant and varying impacts on diverse climate change views. Further, subjective satisfaction variables like health and income as well as exposure to news and social media are potential determinants of climate change views. Lastly, health risks and income influence individuals' perception of vulnerability to climate change driving differences in climate change views across genders. The modeling is carried out using ordered probit. Further, to guarantee reliability and consistency, additional analysis using different regions in Europe and immigrant status are conducted. |
