Possible origin of Muong Nong Tektites by a grazing impact in Tibet

英文摘要Muong Nong tektites found spread over a large area in Indochina contain high concentration of rare elements like lithium and boron, which can be used to trace the target rock. Tibet lake region is known for its lithium and borax deposits along with ultra-high-pressure finds like coesite, stishovite and high-pressure nitrides. Spatial distribution pattern of these tektites, specifically down-range spreading in a narrow fan area, suggest that Muong Nong tektites may have been produced by a grazing impact in Tibet on Indochina border. High concentrations of volatiles like Cl and Br can be ascribed to a chondritic or cometary impactor.
