英文摘要 | Fungi play a pivotal role in metals biomineralization and biogeochemical cycling thereby influencing various essential pedogenic processes, e.g., rock weathering, organic matter turnover, and element distribution. Geomycology, the scientific study of fungal contributions to geological processes and the impact of geology on fungal biota, has the potential in developing new approaches for mineral exploration. This study provides an overview of geomycology on supergene Au and transition metals (TM), e.g., Fe, Mn, Cu, and U that are often associated with Au in regolith enrichments. In doing so, this manuscript discusses the mechanisms involved in geomycological Au and TM biomineralization, transportation, and the community-scale response, which are underpinned, at least partially, through similar ecophysiological pathways. We point out that these pathways and related fungal consortia are the future studies for efficient supergene Au probing. We also propose a workflow which can be potentially adopted by the mineral exploration industry. |
