英文摘要	Driven by the need for water security in a changing environment, research on the water cycle and water resources has attracted intensive research in the last few decades. This chapter reviews the progresses in terrestrial water cycle and water resources research, including the state-of-art understanding of change in the water cycle, improvement of prediction capacities in hydrology and water resources, and achieving water security. The grand challenges and perspectives for the near future are discussed. In particular, we highlight the challenges to address interactions among multiple factors in the water system and to manage the water related risks.
