英文摘要 | Aircraft measurements of aerosols number concentration (Na) and composition, gas pollutants (SO2, CO), and meteorological variables (temperature (T), wind, relative humidity (RH)) conducted over North China Plain during 2007–2011 were analyzed to explore the role of cloud in secondary aerosol formation in the troposphere. The results show that aerosols in the troposphere increased significantly under cloud condition. The Na in the 2–3.6 km layer in cloud group was nearly 2 times of that in un-cloud groups. Further analysis of the relationships among SO2, CO and aerosol show that aerosol/CO increased, while SO2/aerosol decreased in the 2–3.6 km layer in cloud group, suggesting that the gas-to-particle conversion for SO2 was accelerated in cloud. The profiles of aerosol composition further corroborated this viewpoint. The mass fraction of sulfate increased from 13.3% in the 0–1 km layer to 42.7% in the 2–3.6 km layer in cloud group with increasing rate of 221%, much higher than un-cloud groups. The observations in this work suggested that the aerosol number concentration in the 2–3.6 layer in cloud group increased by 63.9%–185%, and the aerosol mass concentration increased by 34.8%–287%. © 2021 Elsevier Ltd |
