| 中文摘要 | 【中文摘要】"中国西部环境与生态科学数据中心"（以下简称"西部数据中心"）是国家自然科学基金委员会"中国西部环境与生态科学研究计划"以建设集成化、体系化、规范化科学数据共享平台为目标而设立的重点研究项目，承担"西部计划"项目数据产出的收集、管理、集成，并面向西部环境与生态科学的各个领域提供科学数据服务。经过四年的建设，"西部数据中心"完成了项目的计划目标，在借鉴和探索了国内外科学数据中心建设经验和问题的基础上，最终建成了体制合理、功能齐全、数据丰富、服务通畅的西部环境与生态科学数据中心。形成了从数据收集、规范化整理、集成挖掘到数据服务的体制，建成了功能优化的数据中心网站，集成了一批西部环境与生态乃至整个中国陆域地球表层科学方面的关键数据集，为"西部计划"等项目及科研团体与个人提供了持续的数据服务。 【英文摘要】The integration of scientific data and other knowledge sources can facilitate not only scientific research but also the more widespread and effective use of scientific data for the benefit of society. The target of the Environmental and Ecological Science Data Center for West China (WESTDC) is to improve the integration and sharing of environmental and ecological scientific data for the western China. WESTDC is sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). Its key mission is collecting, managing, integrating and disseminating environmental and ecological scientifc data for the western China. Currently, WESTDC has completed the planned target of the project including the integration of an amount of environment and ecological scientific data and establishment of a data sharing Web-based portal using state-of-the-art computer technology, continously offering quality data service in last four years.Highlights include attempts to integrate data with bibliographic knowledge, application of Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to uniquely identify a data, and efforts to sharing data with scientific community from both within and outside the "Environment and Ecological Science Program" of NSFC. WESTDC has integrated multi-source remote sensing data and data for meteorological, hydrological, cryosphere, ecological and social and economic research fields. In particular, WESTDC integrated most of data products from "Environment and Ecological Science Program" of NSFC. In compliance to the "full and open" data sharing policy, most data in WESTDC can be accessed at http://westdc.westgis.ac.cn.
