英文摘要In light of the continuously increasing CO2 emission correlated with the usage of fossil fuels that contributes to the main part to greenhouse gas emissions, there is an urgent need for reducing CO2 emission. Thus, CO2 utilization and transformation to valuable products such as liquid fuels via hydrogenation is a promising strategy. This will allow recycling the CO2 to generate a closed carbon-fuel cycle and moving towards a non fossil fuel based economy. To enable efficient conversion of CO2 into fuels, discovery of new catalysts is crucial. So far, there are only very few examples of catalytic processes that can directly hydrogenate CO2 into hydrocarbons containing more than two carbons (C2+) such as gasoline (C5 - C11), the most commonly used liquid fuel. The goal of this project is to develop bifunctional catalysts that directly hydrogenate CO2 to gasoline with high activity and selectivity. It requires i) developing CO2-to-MeOH synthesis catalysts that are selective and ii) combine the developed CO2-to-MeOH catalyst into MTG catalyst efficiently via a bottom-up synthetic approach. In combination with detailed structural characterizations by state-of-the-art microscopic and spectroscopic techniques, a fundamental structural understanding at an atomic-level will be established. This will help to understand the synergy between different active components in the bifunctional system and establish structure-activity relationships, guiding further improvements of the generated CO2-to-gasoline bifunctional catalysts. Furthermore, understanding of the nature of active sites under reaction conditions and reaction mechanisms will be obtained by performing various operando spectroscopic studies. The proposed research study will not only provide a new and better catalyst for CO2-to-gasoline conversion, but it will also pave the way towards a more rational design of bifunctional catalysts by having a better fundamental understanding.
