英文摘要 | Low phosphorus availability is a key constraint for plant growth in tropical soils. Unlike most cultivated crops, recommendations of phosphates and other fertilizers for part of the commercial eucalypt stands in Brazil are based on nutrient budget modelling. Nutrient use efficiency and allocation between plant tissues are important variables in these models. Here, we use data from previous studies to generate a set of equations to predict phosphorus use efficiency (PUE) and allocation (PA) within eucalypt stands. Specifically, we fitted sigmoidal models with commonly data available for climate and stand characteristics as predictors of PUE and PA. Our PUE estimates were also used to estimate the aboveground phosphorus content (APC) in the stands. Using an 80/20 data split for parameterization and evaluation, we found that our functions were suitable for predicting PUE, PA and APC. The equations presented here may be used to estimate nutrient needs and exports in even-aged eucalypt stands and to facilitate parametrization of empirical and mechanistic models. © 2020 Elsevier B.V. |
