| 中文摘要 | Climate and climate variability have a strong influence on society. This project analyses climate impacts on (bio)physical, socio-economic and cultural levels for the period from 1315 to 1715. In the frame of the study, long-term, middle-term and short-term effects are examined. Climate impacts are phenomena and processes that are triggered or influenced by weather conditions and climate variability, such as fluctuations of harvest yields, subsistence crises, the spread of epidemic diseases, as well as settlement structure or religious practice.The project focusses on three regions in Europe: The Western Swiss Plateau with Bern; Normandy with Rouen; and Yorkshire with York, using comparative methods and a transnational approach. The aim of the project is to trace and classify the mentioned phenomena and processes by analysing commonalities and disparities in coping and adaption of societies with extreme weather conditions, climate and climate impacts. |
