Characteristics of cryogenic mineral formations of Okhotnichya cave at Pre-Baikal areas (Irkutsk region)

英文摘要Cryogenic minerals of two types (coarse-grained and fine-grained) have been discovered in the Okhotnichya cave, located at Western Pre-Baikal area. These formations are composed of rare metastable mineral ikaite (CaCO3·6H2O), which is at the present moment known only in two caves in the world. Coarse-grained cryogenic mineral formations indicate the possibility of existence of cave ice with an area to 400 m2 in Okhotnichya cave as well as the rock frost penetration to the depth of more than 22 m at the cave area.
