英文摘要	Earth's sea level fluctuations are predominantly determined by the amount of ice contained in the Antarctica and Greenland ice sheets. Spaceborne active and passive microwave remote sensing have received the most attention, due to their responsiveness from snow and firn properties related to accumulation rates, and their ability to operate independently of sunlight and through cloud cover. This chapter explains that determining the spatio-temporal variability of accumulation over the ice sheets remains one of the most daunting tasks facing scientists. This task will only be accomplished by utilizing a variety of remote sensing techniques and sensors in conjunction with models and in situ measurements. The chapter describes remote sensing methods, from both spacecraft and aircraft, for determining accumulation, as well as, in situ measurements and model results. © 2015 by JohnWiley & Sons, Ltd.
