英文摘要	The results of the experimental ground-penetrating radar investigations in the area of Russian Progress and Mirny winter stations have been discussed. The tests were carried out during the austral summer fi eld season of 2014/15. The scientifi c works were aimed at identifying and localization of the crevasses in the near-surface glacier. The soundings were carried out at frequencies of 270 MHz, 400 MHz and 900 MHz. It has been founded that the most promising is sounding at the frequencies from 400 MHz to 900 MHz. The works have also demonstrated that the cracks located inside the snow-fi rn can form very weak diff racted waves. In addition, the diff racted waves formed by the crevasses could be the reliable basis for the creation of the velocity model to recount travel time into the depth. It becomes especially important when the ice core data are unavailable or the multi-off set sounding is possible.
