An eventful, intense and digitally shaped year lies behind us. We would like to take this opportunity to look back: Although the COVID-19 pandemic continues to dominate our daily lives, we are particularly grateful that we were able to celebrate our 30th anniversary on 23 June this year with the scientific conference "ZUKUNFTSWISSEN: shaping the future in an innovative, transformative and crisis-proof way" carried out as a hybrid event. This is an important milestone for us, which we celebrated with more than 500 digitally connected guests who looked back with us on the past 30 years. Years in which we have been setting transformational impulses based on scientific findings and driving the "Mission Transformation" forward.
In addition, the year 2021 was strongly influenced by the climate protection discussion not just for the Wuppertal Institute, but also for many of you. The adaptation of the Climate Change Act in the summer following the landmark ruling of the Federal Constitutional Court at the end of April, the devastating floods in July and the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow in autumn are just a few examples. In the past year, the Wuppertal Institute has also taken a more digital approach to its communications and has further expanded the Zukunftswissen.fm podcast and invited a lot of exciting guests. Behind the scenes, we are currently working diligently to further expand our social media presence to keep in touch with you: You can already look forward to our Instagram channel, which we plan to launch in 2022, as well as the expansion of our Twitter account, where we will increasingly post content in English.
